Science and Museums

More and more people are starting to engage with scientific investigations and reading outside of school. The last 4 weeks have been a really exciting times in this subject area despite many people working from home. Scientists across the globe are working really hard as they search for a vaccine to the Coronavirus but remember - not all scientists wear white coats! Below is a collection of resources designed to support and inspire.

Oh and we have also included some virtual museum trips you can on whilst on lockdown!

National Geographic Kids

National Geographic Kids has so, so, so many activities to keep you occupied! You could quite happily spend days and days on here making, reading, watching, writing and becoming inspired about all things Science (oh and there are also some mindfulness activities on here too).

Some of the highlights for me are:

- Space in a Bottle

- Making Paper Daffodils

- Cat Memory Game

- Loads and loads of cool Dinosaur Stuff!

As I said above - there are hundreds of awesome things on this website and definitely one I will use when I get back with the awesome kids at our school.

Maddie Moate

CBBC Presenter Maddie Moate has a YouTube channel! I didn't know this - but then again I didn't know who Maddie Moate was until about 15 minutes ago.

Monday to Friday, Maddie posts an online Science lesson at 11am which you can join in with live or stream back when you feel like it.

On the channel homepage, there are hundreds of videos on how to make things from a variety of topics including: space, dinosaurs, and even beekeeping!

BrainPOP

Join Tim, Moby and the gang on a variety of entertaining, amusing and informative quests to help get loads better at understanding different scientific concepts and ideas.

The website requires a registration (don't worry it is free), which unlocks loads of games and programs - which can help you learn to code, think rationally and problem solve.

Just like Accelerated Reader - there are quizzes to complete at the end.
